When the wine met the dessert...

In the spring of 2010, during the international exhibition "Vyno dienos"

Lithuanian wine and dessert pairing championship

 began as an initiative of the Lithuanian Sommelier School

and Sommelier Association. 

This is the only competition of its kind in the world. 

During the competition, the best pastry chefs and sommeliers come together to create a pairing of specially designed desserts and sweet wine. 

Gradually, these competitions become international - wine professionals and pastry chefs from neighbouring countries are particularly interested in the unique Lithuanian initiative.

The action

The panel of judges, made up of wine and dessert experts, wine and food journalists, bloggers, and sweets lovers, selects:

  • The best pairing of wine and dessert (1-3 places)

  • The best local dessert

  • The best wine of the competition

  • The lightest pairing

After the competition, restaurant menus are filled with new desserts, visitors are more active in ordering wine with dessert, and the supply of sweet wine in local stores increases.

The best ones win the award specially created for the championship, prizes established by partners and the opportunity to participate in international competitions:

Dessert is perhaps the most important stage of the meal, as it will be the last thing your guests remember.
